Ingredients:

  • 100g of all-purpose flour
  • 50g of sugar
  • 30g of unsalted butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp of baking powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • Decorative icing for topping

  • Cookie cutter

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the mixture and combine well.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 4-5 minutes or until they start to turn golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool before decorating with icing as desired.
