Traditional Lamprais in Banana Leaf

Ingredients:
- 300g of mixed meat (beef, chicken, pork)
- 200g of basmati rice
- 50g of sambol chili sauce
- 2 large banana leaves
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Steamer
- Banana leaves
- Mixing bowl
- Knife
- Cooking pot
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mixed meat with onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper. Marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- In a pot, cook the basmati rice according to package instructions until fluffy, then set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan and sauté the marinated meat until it is fully cooked and browned, about 10 minutes.
- Lay out a banana leaf flat on a surface and place a portion of the cooked rice in the center, followed by a portion of the meat and a generous dollop of sambol chili sauce.
- Fold the banana leaf to create a parcel, sealing the edges tightly.
- Repeat the process for the second serving.
- Place the parcels in a steamer and steam for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Once done, carefully unwrap the banana leaves and serve hot.
